Oh My Gosh!

Look at this picture. What are your thoughts?

I don't know whether to be hopeful that one day we can all look at one another, aside from our differences, and accomplish good for the people of this country OR get stuck on foolish pride.

You make the call...

Prayers Needed for Misawa

My very good friend, Misawa, was in a head-on collision this morning on his way to work. He apparently hit a patch of ice and swerved into the opposite lane. Praise God he's fine aside a jammed thumb and bruising. The person he hit was fine as well. Please keep him and his wife in your prayers as he recovers.

Super Bowl XL: Steelers win 21-10

By all means, the Steelers did not dominate the Super Bowl. Nor were they too tough for the Seahawks. The Steelers played hard and had the big plays when necessary; namely the biggest one between Antwaan Randle El and Hines Ward. Ward deserved every bit the MVP award.

Seattle was never in sync. Their receivers couldn't handle the ball and never gave Hasselbeck the chance to throw deep. Their play calling was also very poor.

Overall, I am very happy for Jerome Bettis and Coach Cowher. Bettis, who announced his retirement on national television, can rest easy knowing he went out on top.

Side Notes:
Roethlisberger's 1-yard touchdown run didn't happen. You can argue all you want, but the ball NEVER crossed the goal line.

Hasselbeck's post interception clipping penalty was another bad call. He clearly went for the tackle.

And what ever happened to the post game sportsmanship between the two coaches? I don't know about you, but I didn't see Mike Holmgren shaking Bill Cowher's hand in congratulations. Was it poor camera work or sportsmanship? Any information would be helpful.

Thoughts on Islam

CNN.com: Muslim anger over cartoon spreads

I'm disturbed by the outrage and violent protests the Muslim world is having over the cartoon depiction of their prophet Mohammed. If you view the protests, many are calling for the beheading of the writers (cartoon) or Europeans all together. Fires are burning and property is being destroyed over a cartoon.

Many of you may say, "Well those are the Muslim extremists. They don't all feel that way." And, you may be right. I am hopeful that moderate Muslims - ones who do not scorn - out number the extremists.

It is during times like these that I pray fervently for our Christian missionaries who are bravely spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May God's Hand protect our brothers and sisters in the field.

Common Sense Thoughts

Quick little thoughts with tiny chunks of common sense:

1. State of the Union speech: Was there really anything out of the ordinary here? We're still battling terrorism; still battling gas and oil prices; and still battling the economy. Go figure.

2. Samuel Alito's confirmation: One now has to wonder about the minds of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Kennedy, Feingold, and the California Dems. What are you thinking?!? You call for a filibuster, knowing it would fail, then you vote against Alito on pure speculation that he alone is going to overturn Roe v. Wade. Is that what we American's really fear?

3. To impeach or not to impeach the President: From FoxNews.com: Left's Chorus Grows for Bush Impeachment
Notice what Representative Maxine Waters, D-CA, says:
"If a president's untruthfulness about sexual relationships is an impeachable offense, then surely spying on American citizens, undermining the Constitution and contravening current standing law are impeachable offenses," Waters said comparing Bush's alleged crimes to ones former President Clinton was tried for.

Well Ms. Waters, if you want to compare presidents we can do that, but, you'll lose. You see, the White House belongs to the people of these United States. And last I looked, President Bush did not commit an immoral act in the White House. He used the wiretapping for our safety; for our protection against foreign invaders. The murderers of 9/11 were on OUR soil and living in this country for some time. If the wiretapping saves our lives, then so be it. Besides Rep. Waters, what do you have to fear?
